MedApp

Timeline: Sep 2020 – May 2021

Individual Research Project with a Supervisor

MedApp is the project I researched, designed, developed and tested as part of my final year research project. It is an all-in-one system that can be used in hospitals to manage and schedule medical appointments between patients and their medical professionals (doctors or nurses). It also has the additional benefit of allowing doctors to provide their patients with a digital alternative to traditional prescriptions. This is generated when the doctor fills out a form to create a new prescription. Once this is created, a QR code is generated which can then be used at a pharmacy to retrieve medication. The pharmacist has their own QR code scanner to verify the prescription and update the collection status. This is a simple step to avoid a single-use prescription from being used more than once, or at another pharmacy.

This application was built using HTML, CSS and JavaScript using the MERN Stack of apps (MongoDB, ExpressJS, ReactJS and NodeJS). The front-end was design using IBM’s Carbon Design System.

My supervisor for this project was one of my lecturers, Mohammed Cherbatji.

Below you can see a Video showcase of this project and screenshots of the application’s design.
